Acting in a perimeter of 5 million m2, the Operação Urbana Porto Maravilha ( Wonderful Port Urban Operation ) is bold not only in its size, but also in therms of its possible impacts over the Port Region, its residents and the heritage of the city.. The initiative of the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro was created with the purpose to revitalize one of the areas where the city began, bringing socioeconomic development and modernity to it while, simultaneously, recovering and valorizing its historical and cultural heritage.
